4 Step Skincare Routine

4 Step Skincare Routine

Your 4 Step Routine When You Don’t Have Time For Skin Care

Skincare and self-care are essential for feeling our best throughout the day. The busier we are, the more important these self-love acts are to ensure we don’t burn out or crash. However, most people feel they never have time for skincare or can’t remember to do their routine every day, which leads us to feel worse about our appearance and worse about ourselves.

The team at Vidaderm hears you. We understand your struggle because we only have a few precious minutes in the morning to prepare our skin for the day. That is why we’ve created a simple routine (and a kit to go with it) that makes skincare manageable for the busiest of people.

Step One: Wash face with Gentle Cleansing Cream

Just like you wash with body wash in the shower, you need to wash your face with a cleanser every day to keep it clean and healthy. Our Gentle Cleansing Cream is made for sensitive skin, which means it won’t dry out your face after application. Instead, it nourishes your face while removing dirt, oil, and other pore-clogging elements on your face. This is your best defense against acne and breakouts throughout the day.

Step 2: Apply Intense Soothing Cream To Moisturize

Contrary to popular belief, sensitive skin does not need heavy creams to stay hydrated. Instead, what you need is an effective moisturizer that will keep your skin hydrated under makeup, after the gym, or when you’re out in the sun all day. If the Intense Soothing Cream is too much for your combination or oily skin, however, we have a separate acne-prone kit that is light on the skin and will help you keep your face blemish-free every day.

After this, you can apply your sunscreen and favorite makeup products as usual. Depending on how much makeup you wear or what you’re planning for the day, you may want to add a primer on beforehand. But otherwise, these two products will serve you well for the day.

Step 3: Refresh The Face At Night With Micellar Purifying Water

At night, it’s essential to remove makeup, sweat, dirt, and dead skin before you go to bed. We recommend micellar water because it is tough on makeup and oil but won’t dry out your skin like some makeup removers. Instead, it works as a remover, toner, cleanser, and even partial moisturizer before you go to bed to ensure you’re not sleeping with acne-causing particles on your skin.

Step 4: Cleanse and Moisturize (Again)

If you shower at night, be sure to rewash your face and add a moisturizer right after you get out to ensure it has time to dry before you go to bed. You can also cleanse and moisturize before brushing your teeth if you don’t typically shower until the morning. This ensures you don’t forget to do these steps, and you’ll wake up with a clean, fresh face without adding too much extra time to your day.

 Other Tips for Better Skin:

In addition to this simple twice-per-day routine, you can use these tips in your arsenal to make skincare a more manageable part of your day:

  • Skip makeup at least one day per week to give your skin time to breathe. A break in the routine will lessen the frequency of breakouts.
  • You can use your cleanser in the shower right before you get out to save time.
  • No matter what, never skip your micellar water at night. In a pinch, the micellar water can act as both your cleanser and moisturizer for the day.

Vidaderm can help you make your skincare more manageable with our Sensitive Skin Treatment Kit. Treat yourself to better skin, and see the results without adding an extra hour a day to your busy schedule.

How To Use Your Skincare Products In The Correct Order

Finding the proper skincare routine is a process that typically takes years for people to master. There are thousands of tutorials, step-by-step guides, and miracle products out there, but very few brands that teach you how to use your products and why. At VidaDerm, we aim to demystify the skincare process and help you understand why you need certain products to have flawless, soft skin.

One of the questions we receive the most is, “What order do I need to use these products in to actually get results?” Order is important – if you don’t use your products correctly, you could negate the effects of your products or, worse, irritate your skin.

Below is a simple step-by-step process for all of your skincare products. The proper order will ensure your skincare products work together rather than against each other, and you can use them underneath makeup to protect your skin throughout the day.

For Day

  1. Cleanser - Wash your face with one of our cleansers to remove any dirt, oil, dead skin cells, or makeup from the night before. If you don’t do this step first, you’re building up residue on your face, which is exactly how breakouts happen.

  1. Spot treatments - After you’ve thoroughly washed your face with a gentle cleanser, you can start treating blemishes, dark spots, or uneven skin with your various targeted treatments. This may include eye creams to reduce puffiness or dark circles, blemish correctors, or any other remedy that works for your unique skin condition.

  1. Moisturizer - After you’ve applied your spot correctors, you need to moisturize your entire face. A moisturizer will prevent makeup from looking dry and keep the skin plump and youthful throughout the day.

  1. Sunscreen - UV rays are the number one problem for most skin types, as they cause dark spots, damage, and can even lead to serious health concerns. Wear sunscreen on your face and any part of the body that isn’t covered by your outfit for the day. This should be the last step before makeup application, so wait a few minutes for everything to absorb before getting ready the rest of the way.

You can also use an ultrasonic face brush or beauty massager to wash your face if you wear makeup on a daily basis and have good results. However, this routine can be simplified by using these products in order after you get out of the shower or before you put on makeup for the day. If you don’t wear makeup that day, do this routine instead to ensure your face is hydrated and protected when you go out.

For Night:

Evening skincare is arguably more important than daytime care, as it ensures you don’t sleep with dirt, oil, or dead skin cells overnight. Unfortunately, this can lead to blemishes the next day, so be careful to follow this order precisely:

  1. Micellar water/makeup remover - Micellar water can be used in conjunction or as a replacement to makeup remover to help cleanse the skin thoroughly and moisturize at the same time. Micellar water is best for sensitive skin but may not be tough enough for heavy foundation or eye makeup, so we recommend stocking up on both, so you have what you need depending on the day.

  1. Cleanser - After wiping away the day, you should take the extra step to wash your face with a cleanser to ensure that every bit of oil, dirt and makeup is removed. When you don’t wake up with a new breakout, you’ll be glad you took the extra step to cleanse your face thoroughly.

  1. Spot treatments/night mask - If you use a night mask, spot treatments, or night eye cream, be sure to put it on before your moisturizer. This ensures that it soaks into the skin and can provide the proper benefits to your skin. However, if you’re trying to simplify your night routine, you can skip this step.

  1. Moisturizer/soothing cream - Finally, be sure to moisturize with your regular moisturizer or special night cream. A moisturizer will help you wake up feeling rejuvenated and save you time in the morning if you ever forget to moisturize before sunscreen.
